This short film was commissioned by the Dutch State Forestry or Staatsbosbeheer. I was asked to create a film that explains the environmental developments in a beautiful nature reserve called Oostvaardersplassen. The animation shows the changes necessary to ensure a more durable habitat for the endangered birds that depend on the area for nesting grounds and foraging.

Process
Working with the park rangers was an absolute delight as I was allowed into the nature reserve that's closes off to the general public. I took many photo's of the surroundings and the animals, to be later used for inspiration while animating the film.
The production of the film took three weeks and I focused on a watercolor paint style, that was rough and sketch-like. Above all I tried to show the diversity of birds that inhabit the park.
